100% Pure Ceremonial Grade Matcha - First Harvest from Uji, Kyoto, Japan

Our matcha is made from the very first harvest of the year in Uji, Kyoto - Japan’s most renowned region for premium matcha. Shade-grown, carefully hand-picked, and stone-milled into a fine powder, this ceremonial grade matcha is green, smooth, with low to no bitterness with a balanced umami finish.

Ideal for traditional whisked matcha, it’s 100% pure with no additives - just the highest quality Japanese green tea, as it’s been enjoyed for centuries.

Ceremonial matcha is the highest grade of matcha, made for drinking straight - just matcha and water. It’s called “ceremonial” because this is the kind of matcha traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. No milk, no sugar needed - just pure, vibrant green matcha at its finest.

**Grown without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, with careful soil management and smaller harvests. The taste is mild, clean, and slightly earthy, with smooth texture and a lighter body. Its green may be softer than non-organic matcha, and the umami more gentle, but it offers a pure, natural experience.

Grades of Ceremonial Matcha

At Matcha Kudasai, we offer two types of ceremonial grade matcha:  WAKA and KIYO, each with its own unique character.

WAKA
Our higher grade ceremonial matcha. WAKA has a deeper green hue and a richer, more full-bodied flavour - perfect for those who enjoy a thick, bold bowl of matcha (koicha-style).

KIYO
Also ceremonial grade, KIYO has a lighter green colour. It’s lighter in taste, making it ideal for a smooth, easy-drinking matcha (usucha-style).

Tasting Notes: Difference between WAKA and KIYO

Which one should I choose?

  • Prefer a thicker, more intense matcha? Go for WAKA
  • Prefer a lighter, fresher cup? Try KIYO.

Both are made from first harvest leaves and stone-milled in Japan. The choice is yours,  based on how you like to enjoy your matcha moment.

Just Want to Try First?

We get it - committing to a full tin can be a big step. That’s why we offer 10g trial packs of our ceremonial matcha, perfect for first-timers or those curious to compare grades before choosing a favourite.

Each 10g pack makes around 5 servings, so you can experience the flavour, colour, and aroma before deciding on a larger size.
