This beautiful piece is inspired by one of Ogata Korin most iconic works, the pair of folding screens called "Kouhakubaizu Byoubu" (Red and White Plum Blossoms), which showcases his masterful use of space, contrast, and texture.

Ogata Korin (1658–1716) was a highly influential Japanese painter and designer of the Edo period, known for his contributions to the Rinpa school of painting. Born in Kyoto into a wealthy family of kimono merchants, he was exposed to decorative arts from a young age, which greatly influenced his artistic style. Korin became famous for his innovative use of colour, bold compositions, and simplified, yet elegant, designs.

His works often feature themes from nature, such as flowers, birds, and water, with a decorative and stylized approach.

Korin's art had a lasting impact on Japanese aesthetics, influencing ceramics, textiles, and lacquerware. Many of his works have been designated as national treasures of Japan.

Kutani ware is a type of traditional Japanese porcelain known for its bright colours and detailed, hand-painted designs. It started in the 17th century in the Kutani region of Japan. The pieces are famous for using five main colours—green, yellow, red, purple, and blue—and often feature nature, animals, and landscapes.

Each piece of Kutani ware is handmade and painted, making it unique. The porcelain is durable and can be used for everyday purposes or as decorative items. It's popular among collectors for its beauty and craftsmanship.
